Ways to Engage

Devoting two weeks to working with Reina Katzenberger at The Project Shop was an utter gift. I’ve always wanted to learn printmaking and was engrossed the entire time I was at the shop—I haven’t experienced that level of single focus for a long while. To be introduced to printmaking from someone who is enamored with the history, technique, mechanics, and unique expression of printmaking is a rare opportunity. Additionally, Reina is more committed to exploring ideas than being an expert or working towards a successful product—invaluable in a teacher. I had a chance to collaborate with Reina on a series which was remarkably easy, interesting and rich. This (?residency?) time allowed me distance from my own work, illuminating assumptions and blindnesses, and opening new avenues of thinking and possibility. I would do it again in a heartbeat
